Near Death Experiences
|
As we plunge forward into the 21st century we find ourselves in a time when everything we thought we knew about human existence in undergoing a radical change in understanding. As a result our civilization is fast awakening to a greater reality than we have known before. Who are we? Where did we come from? Why are we here? are all questions we’d like to answer in our lifetime, but perhaps the most intriguing questions of all are Where are we going? and What happens to us after death? This discussion group is a gathering place for like-minded people to share their personal experiences when coming close to death, during death experiences and who have communicated with friends and loved ones who have already died. We will also explore all facets of research into the afterlife and other phenomena relating to the continuation of life after death. |

Afterlife Discussions Meetings
Friday 17 May
2013, 7.30pm Near-death experiences (NDEs) refer to personal experiences associated with, but not always inclusive of, impending death. During these experiences individuals can experience detachment from the body, feelings of levitation, total serenity, security, warmth, the experience of absolute dissolution, the presence of a light, guides or departed family and friends. Many view the NDE as the precursor to an afterlife existence, claiming that the NDE cannot be adequately explained by physiological or psychological causes. Some even believe NDEs cause us to reassess our understanding of the death experience, and as a consequence, our understanding of what it means to be alive. Can near death experiences give us answers to these questions and if so, can they be evidence of an afterlife? Can we explain these experiences and their after-effects in the context of our present understanding of human existence or do these experiences highlight a misunderstood perspective of our ability to consciously evolve.
